In the essays "Little Briar- Rose", "Hansel and Gretel", and "The
Juniper Tree" by Grimm brothers has different elements, and I will discuss
One of the elements in "Little Briar-Rose" is the element of good
versus evil. You will see that this element is in every fairly tale. Either it is
between step mother and the princess or an old witch and the children. In
this story the good versus evil is between the King and a wise woman. It all
began when the King had a daughter, and he order to have a great feast. In
the palace lived thirteen wise women. The King only invited twelve because
of not having enough plates. At the end of the feast "the Wise Women
bestowed their magic gifts upon the baby" (Grimm 161). When eleven of
wise women granted their wishes, the uninvited wise woman came and she
wished that the princess will prick herself with a spindle and drop dead. But
the twelfth one couldn't undo the evil but can change from being dead to a
deep sleep. This is an example of being good versus evil. The twelve wise
women being good and the thirteenth one being evil.
In the second essay," Hansel and Gretel" the elements were good
versus evil, death versus survival. In this fairly tales good part is played by
the father and the evil part is played by the step-mother. Even though the
family was in crisis of food, the father wanted the family to stay together,
but the step-mother wanted to get rid off the children because they had no
food. And this is an element of truth because how you going to find your
children when you cannot even afford to feed yourself. The parents took
both of them with a crumb of bread in their hand and left them in thick
forest. So that Hansel and Gretel couldn't find their way back. The element
