Crabs were everywhere; it rained and rained for several days "as if the earth was moving". The sky was so uncertain that people just wished for a couple of hours of clear skies, this made the citizens of this small town to be saddened. While outside discarding crabs an old man was discovered by Pelayo, "a child" moving in the shadows slowly. The Old man had very large old weathered wings covered in mud, the old mans face was lying directly in the mud. This scared the man so he ran to get his other half (the wife), who was already busy tending to their sick son. The man was dirty, bald, and missing nearly all his teeth. There was something different about this man he had something unfamiliar about him besides his speech was hard to understand, the old man had big, dead looking wings attached to his back.
             Some people thought he was an angel, after a couple of hours nearly all the townspeople knew about the old fallen angel, who they believed "came to help the child". They were scared of it, mainly because they didn't know what or how to deal with this scary looking old man, so they locked him up inside a chicken coop "like a caged animal". It wasn't fair for them to be treating a stranger like an animal, was he was really an angel or just a freak of nature? Townsmen thought he might be some sore of savior who came here to help out the sick and distressed.
             The town Priest came up to see the man he tried to talk to the man in Latin, but didn't get a response and believed that the so called angel was a fake. People started to come from different places to see the old man, which Pelayo and Elisenda were able to make money off of their discovery.
