• Usually it's a week or at least 2 days.
• When you send your mail, email, fax, or call by phone, be sure to mention that the event is timely and worthwhile and of interest to the media.
• Mention as well all the details such as the best time to arrive, exact location, parking, visual and audio opportunities, the main aspect of the event and contact names and numbers.
• If the editor indicates a crew will be sent to cover your event there's a chance the crew won't show up because of a big event occurring at the same time.
• So don't be disillusioned, and don't take it personally.
