What is so wrong with same sex marriage? I am for "gay" marriages because I believe that it is one's own decision and not up to other people. It is not right for a whole population of people to decide whom one should love. With all the horrors and crimes out there being committed against people, I find it appalling that so much time and energy is spent trying to prevent people from, or punish people for, simply loving another human being. They do not love the same kind of person you do, so what.
             The main reason people are against same sex marriage is that they say the church does not accept it. When God created a partner for Adam He created Eve, not another Adam. Therefore, in the church's eyes, it is wrong for two people from the same sex to be together. A popular saying I have heard is " God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve." I believe those beliefs are wrong and very discriminating.
             In the United States, separation of church and state is governed by the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. The separation of church and state is a concept in modern thought and practice, whereby the structures of state or national government are kept separate from those of religious institutions. The U.S is supposed to follow this set of rules but offten decides to do as they please. They are ruling same sex marriages illegal because of their religious beliefes. Our government relys too much on what people believe is right and wrong instead of what the constitution defines as right from wrong.
             America has fought for our civil rights but they are often abused. A homosexual person is continuously discriminated against due to their sexual orientation. Keeping homosexuals from marrying each other is just another form of discrimination, which according to our civil rights America does not discriminate.
