Determination

             I believe that determination is a big key in child development. I can remember a
             significant time in my younger years where getting to the top was all that mattered. The top of a
             Back in the second grade, around the end of May, the days were beautiful. The trees
             were finishing their bloom, the eggs were hatching, and the maintenance men were cleaning the
             pool for Memorial Day. The smell of cut grass and flowers filled the air. The kind of days where
             the young get wild, and ready for the summer. On one of these beautiful days, I went walking
             down the long streets through the subdivision. Everything was perfect, as I walked in a daze.
             Suddenly, something cut me short of breath. It seemed to have such perfect form. Not just form,
             but climbing shape. Real thick toward the bottom, with branches reaching out endlessly. It had
             me in such awe that I knew I had to climb this tree. So, I edged toward it with my brain on
             navigation mode, scoping each branch, curve and ledge. The tree seemed to have such a
             unique, but sensible climbing path. As I looked up I got a little excited and strarted to climb. I had
             to remember exactly the way I was going up, so it could be done again. I saw so many feet ahead
             of me. It was frightening, and I still had a ways to go. It started getting late, almost time for
             dinner. My stomach growled just at the thought of the home cooked meal. So I inched my way
             The rest of the night I twisted and turned while I dreamed of the future climb. It kept me
             restless, yet excited. This was the first tree I have ever attempted to climb. I couldn't give up.
             The next day, school took forever. I was so spaced out, and nothing mattered. The day
             took forever to end but it finally did, then I ran to the bus, then ran home from there. The run
