Sonnet 130 new criticism

            William Shakespeare is known for not having the best of times with women or getting the best women. For his time he was not an awesome catch, but if the ladies only knew what they would have had if everything were theirs in the end, then things may have been different. In his time he was doing ok with his performances at The Globe, among other things.
             This sonnet is about a mistress of his, that not everyone knows about, but also one that he knows to not be the best person. He may be telling his wife about this lady he's been seeing, or one of his friends trying to get help about how to not see her because she isn't anything wonderful, or worth boasting about. Her eyes aren't like the sun, but darker. They probably seem to have a dead look to them, in that she isn't a happy person or one that enjoys much of what she does. Her life maybe is quite miserable, and he probably only comes to contact with her for other things which we don't need much light. He may not ever get a good look into her eyes, and he might not have too many other people see them together because of what she is. She probably isn't a people person. She should wear makeup if she has those kinds of colors in her eyes, and especially with her lips not being very brightly colored red as some corals are. With her black hair and ill colored face, she is one that needs to get out and take care of herself better, and especially with things like brushing her teeth because they have a reeking smell to them. When combined with her poor looks, she doesn't seem to be much of a prized catch for him, although she may be very good at other things and might even be helping him with some of his poems, providing a different look on things.
             With all of those poor facial qualities, he loves to hear her speak, even though she isn't educated in a way that make her words sound pleasing to him, but she has certain qualities that make her different. He...
