Although I was raised Catholic, I agree with Karl Marx's belief, that religion is nothing more than opium of the people. I do still consider myself Christian, but I do not agree with everything I have been taught. Religion is a topic that people deliberate frequently. There are so many different religions that have been around for a while, but there is also many more that have been recently developed. Since there are so many religions it seems that it is nothing more than something for people to believe in. Religion can give people a purpose in life.
             If everyone would stop and think about how it is in third-world countries they may doubt God. Millions of people live on the streets with nothing but still accept their life. They realize that there is nothing they can do for themselves and live each day, accepting what is ahead of them. People with a religion believe that good things happen because God was watching over them but when something critical happens they doubt him. People usually do not have second thoughts about their God until life takes a tragic turn. Some people say that God never gives you anything you cannot handle but if people would consider my situation they may change their opinion.
             When I was nine years old my brother committed suicide. By eleven my parents got a divorce. At twelve my house burned leaving me to live with my grandparents and a year later my grandpa died. Then at age sixteen I got into a car accident and became paralyzed. Sometimes I just feel as if I cannot handle anymore and that God gave me much more than I can handle. I think the worst part was when I became paralyzed. I do understand that I cannot control if someone dies because sooner or later it happens to everyone, but not everyone loses the ability to walk. I don't believe that someone would leave another confined to a wheelchair, unable to feel anything from the waist down for the rest of their lives. I am now 19 but not doing ...
