             Adolescents know about the meaning of death and its implications. Adolescents¡ perception of time is more realistic than school-age children¡s. On the border of becoming adults, they are more aware of the years of living that lie ahead, the many experiences yet to have, the relationships yet to establish. It would be expected that adolescents¡ fears of death would be great. Yet, typically, this is not the case. ¡§Death is a long way off, why worry now?¡ is a common statement made along with having the perception that they are invincible.
             Young adults find it harder to deal with and have more anxiety about their own death than do older individuals. Death appears much less likely and therefore it is less central in their thought. The young adult is focused on starting a career, marriage and family. Goals, hopes and aspirations that have been established are now to be tested by experience. The thought of death is a threat to these goals and aspirations.
