"Personal Experience: Women's Sexual Repression"
             It is obvious that society has shaped us to belief that women's freedom should be limited. Our patriarchal society teaches us that women need to be protected by men because they don't have the strength and independence to function by themselves. In addition, women are immediately judged if they even think or mention the word sex. They are classified as immoral and "dirty". As an example, I will describe my experience when I went to rent a pornographic movie.
             It was a Tuesday night around eight o'clock. I thought that it would be a good idea to test the level of closeness in people's mind. I went to the movie store that I sometimes go with my boyfriend. I went to the "special room" in the back searching for an interesting heterosexual movie. I decided to make it more exciting and I asked the middle aged woman at the counter, "Excuse me Madame, Would you please show me the section of heterosexual pornography?" She blushed and got speechless for a couple of seconds. She then told me with a trembling voice that she wasn't sure, looking around as if she was hoping that nobody was looking. She asked one of the employees, a guy of course, if he could help me. The guy showed me the section and immediately returned to where the woman was and was obviously commenting something about me to the woman, very silently and with a smiley red face. I finally checked one out and noticed their faces. That simple event turned out to be a total adventure for me, where I felt totally free and unique. Those were the reactions I expected. People are very conservative when it comes to sexuality, especially if it is regarding to women. Women are thought to repress their thoughts and feelings.
