             The Effects of a Poor Selection of Employees
             The management of people should be the fundamental concern of any company, rather than the management of things and techniques, on which so much attention has been focused. Poor selection of employees can cost a company thousands of dollars in lost revenue, new recruiting, hiring, and training expenses. The main factor that has lead to the struggles faced by T&T Components is its poor choice in employees. According to Thai Nguyen, the owner of T&T Components, employees tend to do their job carelessly or tend to act on what they believe is right, resulting in multiple mistakes and costing the company thousands of dollars. Many also do not take their job very seriously and hence, are not working very efficiently, wasting time and money. An employer could get a quick overview of the potential employee's skills but it is difficult to get solid information about a person because what can and can not be said about someone is limited by the law.
             Which people will do the job, and how will they be held accountable and judged? Many companies have found that hiring specialists, such as industrial-organizational psychologists, who are experts in personnel selection, training, performance appraisal, leadership, work motivation and attitudes, has resulted in a better selection of people more suitable for the particular job, increased worker productivity, and saved companies from a lot of unnecessary expenses. "The best way to grow a business is to grow the people. It just doesn't make sense to be replacing people all the time." (Kurtz 35) These specialists can help to reduce the risk of incorrectly judging a potential employee's character and separating those who are suitable for the job and those are not. They have a better understanding of people's motivations and actions.
