             Assessing Corporate Culture Paper: American Red Cross
             The American Red Cross, a diverse, volunteer-led, community funded organization has led the world in helping others year after year since 1881. We are about to cover the basic foundation of the American Red Cross, ranging from the organizational slogan, organizational philosophy, mission, to physical workspace. In addition to these we will cover role modeling, training, teachings, explicit awards and status symbols of the organization. All of the values and foundation of the American Red Cross comes from stories, legends, and myths that lead to organizational activities, processes, and leadership reactions to situations. We will conclude with workflow, organizational structure, organizational systems, and organizational goals.
             The American Red Cross is a very diverse organization that bases all of the organizational slogans off of "Together We". The key slogan is "Together, we can save a life" (About Us, 2005). This slogan exemplifies the culture of the American Red Cross as one that thrives off of community involvement and volunteerism. The business culture of being the nation's premier emergency response organization dates back to 1881 when Clara Barton founded the organization.
             The American Red Cross is an independent, volunteer-led organization, headquartered out of Washington, DC. The organization is governed by volunteers and supported by community donations. A 50-member, all volunteer Board of Governors leads the organization. The President of the United States, who is honorary chairman of the Red Cross, appoints eight governors, including the chairman of the board. The chairman nominates and the board elects the President of the Red Cross.
