Book Store Review

             Despite the availability of electronic media, the written word on traditional paper continues to dominate education and is the main means of discovering information. Borders has a great selection on books and is a well none bookstore. I chose to review the down town Chicago location because it's one busiest bookstore's around and it's a great place to people watch. Different individuals enjoy different types of books and in reviewing the taste of the American public I felt overwhelmed with the choices of books.
             My first observation was in the women's health section. One older woman had "Mother-daughter wisdom" which is a book that explores the uniqueness of the mother-daughter bonds in shaping a woman's sense of self. Most of the other woman in that section had books about exercise and fitness. The books on display seem to be the most popular among them. Yoga and pilates books are very poplar. Many of the women in this section seem to be in their mid mid-twenties early thirties.
             The next section I observed was the sports section. There were more men than women in this section. One book on display was Ultramarathon Man: Confessions of an All-Night Runner. Two young men in this section had this book in their hands. Books about base ball were very popular among this section.
             Comics and graphic novels were popular among the young men sitting on the floors. The Hard Goodbye (Sin City, Book 1) was on display along with the whole series. There were discussions among the shoppers in this particular section.
             The cooking section was filled with both men and women of all ages. There books on display about cooking throughout the whole store. I realized how food is so important to many Americans. Everyday Italian: 125 Simple and Delicious Recipes, was popular with the women. Bills open kitchen was one of the books on display.
