Causes and Prevention of Alcoholism

             Alcoholism is a growing problem in our society today with all the added stress of our complicated and hectic lifestyles. These types of lifestyle may cause a person to depend on alcohol for an easy way out of their problems. Alcoholism is a disease cause by genetics, cultural factors, and psychosocial. There is no know cure for this disease, but there are several ways of preventing, and treating alcoholism. An alcoholic can only recover fully only if they have the will power to.
             Alcoholism can be passed on from generation to generation. Someone has a higher chance of becoming an alcoholic if one of his or her parents is one. If someone's father is an alcoholic, they are more likely of becoming an alcoholic, then if their mother is an alcoholic. No different then if their parents have blonde hair, and blue eyes. The child is more than likely to have blonde hair, and blue eyes also. When a child of an alcoholic never drinks, they are less likely to become an alcoholic, than if they would drink.
             Today's culture has an increasing risk of becoming an alcoholic. Drinking starts at a very early age. Most of the teenagers in our society have drunk at least once in their high school experience. When a person chooses to start drinking at such a young age the increase of becoming an alcoholic rises. The readily availability of alcohol in today's society increases the drinking among teenagers. Many teenagers obtain their alcohol mainly from parents, older peers, and businesses that sell to minors. Minors also have alcohol readily availably, and acceptable at family functions, and society functions, such as Christmas, family parties, and weddings. Since drinking has become such an acceptable part of our society our children learn it's okay to drink at a very early age in life.
