I hate mosquitoes. I hate malaria either. But I love meeting people even if there is possible threat of mosquitoes.
One night, I wake up very late at night. I was thinking about whether we should go to Dingalan and face the possible threat of malaria. I prayed. I asked God for a sign whether we go or we retreat.
Then I wake up. It was raining. There was a tropical depression. I also received message from Grace. She's sick. She cannot come with us.
I knelt down and asked God, "Lord, if it is your will that we'll visit Dingalan, so be it. Just give me a sign by healing Grace today and by commanding the rain to stop.
God answered me. I heard His permission through the sunshine that day and I was assured of His protection through the good news Grace told me that she's already fine and that she could go with us.
We're all nine youths from Nueva Ecija who dared to visit Dingalan where malaria is prevalent. We were tough because we have One tough God.
We slept and ate at the huose of Ate G. She's very accommodating and generous. And I practically see her commitment and support to their local youth society.
We handled Sabbath school program where they were inspired by the message the Lord is trying to convey through our skit and Bible study. We also handled afternoon program. They indeed cried and their hearts were melted as we present a skit entitled the "the missing puzzles in our lives". I too was touched by the presentation that I cannot help but cry deep inside me and told myself "Jesus indeed filled my empty life."
We also had had social night in the evening. And on the following day we visited the ruins of the last landslide that killed many innocent people in that place.
Then on Sunday morning 11:30 am, my heart melted as we departed, realizing that it will take time to visit this place again and mingle with those people I've learned to appreciate.
