n Party has experienced growth in the past years mainly due to the focus on federal debt, and the assumption that conservative values can lead us to a stronger market with a higher GDP that will eliminate our need to borrow. Republicans have become comfortable with the status quo and work towards maintaining the society's structure without increasing spending. Gun control, Planned Parenthood, health care, and regulatory agencies are all complicated topics with one simple answer from the party. "No." It enables many to participate in a complex argument with simple responses, but lacks the ideology and philosophy behind the decision making process. These thoughts that go on behind the scenes with politicians and their constituents are what help work towards bipartisan solutions to an issue. The simple platform which they build many of their beliefs off of isn't wrong, but inherently alienates a large portion of the population. It's sort of a, "my way or the highway," idea, and many college students surely understand the difficulties in dealing with such an argument. Bernie Sanders said in a speech during his campaign, "So what, in essence, the political revolution is about, is you getting involved in the political process and understanding what's going on and holding your elected officials accountable," (Sanders).
