As chronic diseases are steeply increasing, it makes it difficult to determine what requires governance, as multiple cofounding variables are related to chronic diseases, such as sodium, sugar, and trans-fat16. My interest in this policy area stems from believing that dietitians can make the major influences at the population level, and the first step is advocating on ways to improve the diets of Canadians. I would love to pursue a career in this area of dietetics, and I hope to learn more about the nutrition policies in Ontario, through these assignments.
