Today, descendants of the Maya still form a large part of the population of Belize. The Mayan Nation which consists of many independent tribes speaks a total of twenty-one different dialects. As in their prime, the Mayans of today still practice different rituals and celebrations and have different clothes and customs depending on where they are from, but they all hold certain ideals and beliefs that are universal to all Maya and that is their love of the land and nature.
