My Essay is on global warming. Because of pollution and getting rid of all the trees our ozone layer is getting thinner and thinner. Our ozone layer protects the Earth from ultra violet radiation and the thinner the ozone layer gets the more radiation comes through. Ever since three years ago at the Kyoto Conference when the U.S. refused to sign a global warming treaty asking people to reduce pollution. Hypothesizes of scientists are becoming a reality for the greenhouse effect, global warming. The problem with global warming is that it is every where though some places are better or worse off then others. And now the greenhouse effect is becoming a reality.
             The ice caps in Antarctica are melting there and the land where people used to be able to stand on is gone things that were built there are gone. The Himalayan glaciers are shrinking at an incredible rate. If things keep going as they are now the Himalayan snow will virtually disappear. It's not only in other countries it's here too. Glacier National Park used to be 800 acres wide. Now it is less than 250 acres. Where does all this frozen water go? To the sea of course. And now sea levels are rising and they are really beginning to get whipped up even on our cost line here in New Jersey. Temperatures are rising and there is too much carbon dioxide in the air. Africa's lakes are shrinking and water is already scarce there. What are they going to do if the lakes dry out? Who knows? The great Lake in Glen Canyon is shrinking. The rates of droughts are increasing and so is the severity of them. Animals are dying and forests are dying of lack of water. As more greenery die more herbivores who rely on greenery die of starvation. There only about 24 Adelie penguins left in the artic. If rate keep up as they are going the human race will be practically extinct by 2054. This is literally no joke.
