Persuasive essay

             It was a beautiful bright sunny Wednesday morning, as I reached over to turn off the alarm clock. My shower was quite refreshing, and breakfast was delicious. Chocolate covered pancakes were moving slowly down my throat, and the feeling was amazing. I turned to the clock on the wall, jumped up, and grabbed my school bag as I raced out the door. Got into the car, and in a matter of minutes I was entering Columbine High School. Friends were greeting me left and right. I was moving from class to class in the excitement for the day to end because I am going to go to Florida for the week. Finally, I enter the cafeteria, as the smell of freshly fried French fries swarmed towards me. One, two, three, shots were fired in all directions. I jumped up in the air while throwing my Lays potato chips across the table. While running for the door, I turned around and saw my best friend lying on the lunchroom floor dead. Bursting with tears, I ran for my life bumping into so many people on the way out, but I was lucky because I was not shot. Witnessing people being shot was the biggest tragedy in my life, and I do not know how I was brave enough to go through all of this. As I was sitting by the fireplace that night, I was thinking to myself, if only we would have gun control in this country. The government should issue the gun control law because it will decrease the number of deaths and create a feeling of security and safety by limiting the number of guns on the street.
             Some people believe that stricter gun controls will label a threat to the Constitution's Second Amendment, which protects the right to bear arms, it will take away the right to protect oneself, and many believe that the government ought to focus on prosecuting people using crime laws that are already written.
