Over the years people have come to believe in all sorts of things, wether it be superstition, religion, or science. Superstitious people believe that if you break a mirror you will have seven years bad luck. Religious people say that if you do not believe in God your soul will burn in the darkest pits of hell. Scientist believe that there is an equal and opposite reaction for everything. Yet, there is no real way to determine who is right or wrong. Each group, for one reason or another, believe what they believe because of fear.
Fear is different from one group to another. No one person wants bad things to happen to them. People try to avoid anything that they think might cause hurt or pain to them, this extends to the damage that may also be to their belief. This fear of injury causes people to do many different things.
These groups try to make others believe what they believe, thinking that the more people who believe in what they believe makes their belief right. This creates a false comfort zone for anyone in the group. They think that in some way with so many people believing in their cause, that they can not be disproved. If one of these groups were to be disproved, that would mean their lives were all a lie. They would have to admit that they were wrong and everything that they lived for and believed would be torn to shreds. The fear of being disproved drives each group to believe just a little bit more in their cause and to keep on believing. This is a major fear for all groups, from the superstitious and religious to the scientist.
