There are several hundred science books available today that any research team could easily get their hands on. There's no reason why a scientist should harm an animal for the sake of an experiment. Almost everything that we could possibly find out about a creature has already been discovered, and is written in a text somewhere. Sure, experimentation on animals simply to learn about them can be justified, because we need the information for our science books and classrooms, but we as humans have been doing it for a very long time. We should have already known everything about the creatures we share this planet with about 20 years ago. Today, there is no excuse.
Experimentation on animals can easily be compared with the capture of soldiers by other countries' military forces. In a sense, the research is just like torture. In both cases, the victim is treated maliciously against their own will. Also, in both cases, the only reason the actions are being made is to gain knowledge. Performing experiments on animals is wrong, especially if they are harmed. Just like in torture, the victim suffers serious traumatic mental anguish, and in many cases, the animal dies prior to the experimentation. The teams of scientists and researchers that conduct these harmful tests on animals are definitely wrong for their actions, and are truly no better than captors harming soldiers for military secrets.
Even though we chastise other countries for the capture of our soldiers, we still allow harmful research to be conducted on innocent animals. This basically shows as an example of how selfish human beings are, putting themselves before the rest of God's creatures. Laws should be passed to make the experimentation stop, and for the scientists to crack open a book for a change. Maybe the law will set an example and cause military torture to cease as well.
