The function of Custody is to guard the correctional client. As stated before, this is done by classifying them and then housing them accordingly. In order to achieve this successfully, the prison design, both inside and outside, needs to be looked at.

Correctional clients are free to move around their assigned unit under direct the supervision of the officer on duty.
