In the beginning we hear about the girl, how open she is to learn. And she really likes birdwatching, and enjoys her time with Crick, until her mother yells. The mother is very skeptic about Crick. Probably thinking about pedofilism. Again the nature of humanity today. DON'T TRUST ANYONE. Because Crick is really a nice guy, maybe a bit naive when not thinking about the consequences of talking to the girl.
             The next day she returns, but this time her brother is with her. Crick is pleased to see them, just glad that he can show them things about birds. The boy seemingly doesn't appear to be very interested, and won't even give the girl the binoculars. He starts talking about the facilities in their caravan, and about how much money they earn. Crick, feeling uneasy about it all, starts defending his situation by saying that there are a lot of interesting things by the beach too. Then the boy sees something. Crick wants to let the girl have a go with the binoculars. Finally he agrees. Crick starts showing Katherine (the girl) a ringed plover, and telling her things about it. The he notices the boy running towards it, and then he throws a rock at it, Crick does not like this at all, and tries to stop Grant, by grabbing him. But just before he gets him, the boy falls. The boy then blames Crick for the fall. All of this seems to reflect the nature of "us" today. We don't care about things. We just want to destroy. And even when Grant blames Crick. He's fully aware of what problems Crick will get of it.
             What happens next is that the father (who is quite upset) searches out Crick. Obviosly angry that Crick "pushed" Grant. Crick however explains the situation, and the father seems to believe him. One interesting thing that comes out of that situation is that we hear that Katherine didn't say anything. Clearly she's been afraid of what Grant would do to her.
