Fragmentation

             For thousands of years, man has been at war with his environment. He has been able to separate himself from everything that surrounds him and also fragment each and every aspect of his life. This concept of fragmentation is very widespread now, not only in society but also within each individual. In society we can see this fragmentation in the different social classes, different specialties in art, science, and technology and division religious, political and racial groups. Similarly, as David Bohm states "... each individual human being has been fragmented into a large number of separate and conflicting compartments, according to his different desires, aims, ambitions, loyalties, psychological characteristics, etc..." All this fragmentation that is surrounding us is creating a general confusion of the mind and bringing about destructive and negative results, such as pollution, over population and world-wide economic and political disorder.
             Fortunately, there is a different way of co-existing with each other and with ourselves. This is the theory of wholeness. In wholistic social order, each person is part of one undivided whole movement; an undivided whole exists from which parts emerge. As David Bohm explains "...each part grows in the context of the whole, so that it does not exist independently, nor can it be said that it merely "interacts" with the other, without itself being essentially affected in this relationship. " So, as we can see, wholeness in every aspect of our lives should be the primary order, and we shall not view things independently, but rather as parts of the whole that can be understood only in the context of the whole.
