"Romeo and Juliet" leaves many questions unanswered in readers' minds.
             One big question always brought up in studying Romeo and Juliet is if they are really in love or if they are just infatuated. Many people believe that they do hold a strong love for each other, but I believe it is just an infatuation.
             Romeo and Juliet first meet at the Capulets' "party" in act 1, scene 5. This scene lets the readers know that young lovers' emotions are sitting on their shoulders and that teenagers often don't know what they are getting involved with until it is too late. At this time in history, though, teenagers got married at a young age. I think the culture they lived in often just forced or rushed them to get married, and getting a divorce was unheard of, so true love was not found often. Shakespeare must have wanted the readers to know that teenagers are not mature enough to marry and take the responsibilities of a family.
             We see that Romeo is a romantic who pines over girls because of their beauty. After meeting Juliet he claims his love for her by saying:
             "Did my heart love till now? Foreswear it, sight, For I ne'er saw true beauty till this night." (1.5.59-60)
             Yet earlier he claimed this about Rosaline:
             "She is too fair, too wise, wisely too fair, To merit bliss by making me despair. She hath forsworn to love, and in that vow Do I live dead, that live to tell it now." (1.1.229-232)
             In that last line Romeo basically tells us that he loves her, because he says she has sworn not to love, and that makes him horribly sad. This shows that you cannot trust him when he says he loves someone, because he changes his mind so fast.
             Juliet is shown as a smart teenager. Love and marriage are new ideas to Juliet.
