Movie Summary: Oliver Stone's JFK

             When Oliver Stone created JFK in 1991 he produced a historical drama that works as a mystery and a thriller. Not only did he create a movie that crossed multiple genres he did well. How does a movie that runs over three hours long find success? It realizes that the world is filled with conspiracy junkies and tapes into what may be, at least in Stone's opinion, one of the largest conspiracies in the history of mankind. Whether Stone's opinion is the true history of what occurred or not, the power of his chosen medium is strong enough to sway me. JFK is a film that blurs the reality of history with fictional dramatizations creating an image of what might have been.
             Following the texts written by real-life district attorney Jim Garrison Oliver Stone weaves a tale linking all levels of government to the murder of John F. Kennedy. The movie's plot revolves around Garrison's (Kevin Costner) attempt to charge Claw Shaw (Tommy Lee Jones) with the murder of the president. With Joe Pesci, Walter Matthau, Kevin Bacon, Sissy Spacek, Gary Oldmen, Jack Lemmon, and many other well known, successful, actors Oliver Stone's has created an ensemble cast that pushes the movie to greatness. It is the actors who, due to their skill in their profession, who blur reality from fiction. Their performances are so good we forget that we are watching actors that we have seen as someone else. We believe that they may be the person who saw the bullet fly out of the bushes or saw two men running away.
             There are for components that make this extremely long film (3 hours +) not only viewable but also unforgettable. One, the acting is superb (If more detail is needed refer to the previous paragraph). Two, the editing is fluent and effective. Stone creates his perception of the events by cutting in between his footage and actual footage seamlessly.
