The issue of same sex marriage has been lingering for a while. Until recently, the President of the United States endorsed a constitutional amendment that would restrict the marriage of two people of the same sex. Yet the possibility that civil unions, which is basically a non-legal marriage will be allowed. The discussion about this topic has more recently turned into a democratic verses republican controversy. Many have questioned the stability of our constitutional rights in the hands of a bias president.
             I believe the choice to marry the same sex is a decision solely for the two individuals, not for a president with a bias view. President Bush tried to veto a new amendment, constructing a form of what he feels is culturally and religiously correct. Our fore fathers set up the preamble in our constitution to benefit and protect our rights. President bush should not be allowed to impregnate our minds with the type of cultural and religious views on homosexual marriage.
             It was only after the Civil War that African Americans were allowed to marry in all areas of the United States. In 1967 a Supreme Court decision allowed mixed couples to marry anywhere in the United States. Until recently same sex couples could not marry anywhere in the world. Our country tolerates the decision of an individual to choose homosexuality or heterosexuality but will not allow same sex marriage. This is a direct attack at their constitutional rights. The United States is a mixed, well diversified country with numerous different languages, faiths and appearances. Bush as a president has shown homophobic signs by extending his personal beliefs to all Americans.
             Some political jurisdictions have special legislation that allows gay and lesbian couples to register their relationship and gain benefits. However, they do not receive all benefits that which a normal marriage acquire. No law states there cannot be same sex marriage. Nor
