             When I was about two or three years old my dad would read to me each night. Reading in my point of view is a very beneficial to young children. Children when they are young need help in learning the language. Just by reading to a child for thirty minutes a day will be encouraging for the child to enjoy reading. This is why reading a book to children helps them in the future with their education.
             He would read to me from a large selection of children's books that ranged from Dr. Seuss to a novel that would last about a week or more. I had a bookshelf in my room that had around a hundred and fifty different kinds of books. I would go to the book shelf and pick a book or two for him to read. Usually he would read for about thirty minutes or more a night, starting around 8:30 or 9 P.M. We also had a certain chair that he would read to me in. The chair was a Lazy-boy recliner that I now have in my room at home. I loved that chair when I was younger and still do to this day. Sitting in that chair now, I think about how protected I felt as a child sitting there with my dad reading those great works of literature that I loved as a child. When my dad read to me, I felt secure. So secure, I would fall asleep every once in awhile in my dad's arms. Then he would carry me to bed without even waking me up.
             My dad also read to me when we went on trips too. When my family went to my grandma's house in South Dakota, I would pack a bag full of books for my dad to read. He would also read to me on camping trips that my family went on.
             Every once in a while my dad would have to go out of town on a business trip. Whenever my dad and I missed a day of reading, I felt miserable. I would hardly be able to sleep at night sometimes because I considered a huge hole to be missing in my night. My dad reading to me every night meant a great deal and upset me if he was not home.
