Gun control has been a serious issue lately. There are too many cases of accidents
and murders. Guns themselves are not harmful. We need to enforce our gun laws, give
guns only to the responsible, and educate them.
With more crimes being committed by guns, the most obvious answer is to make
tougher laws. The laws we have now, like the 10-20-life law, should be strictly enforced.
We should let people know that zero tolerance will be given.
Australia passed a ban on all guns a year ago and the reports are in. Australians
were forced by law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed. According to
their polls, homicides are up 3.2 percent, assaults are up 8.6 percent, and armed robberies
are up 44 percent. That's right, 44 percent. It seems that while law abiding citizens gave
up there guns, law breakers did not. This left the innocent completely unprotect and easy
targets. Like illegal drugs, guns will find away into the country and picked up by the

loaded. This way it will teach them that like a snake, it could kill if not left alone. Gun
owners should be required to take instructional courses. This gives them full knowledge of
the weapon they own and what it is capable of so that none are without excuse.
Anyone would fully admit guns are a problem in our society. The fact is that they
are not going anywhere. We need to enforce the laws we make and adjust the ones we
already have. By providing education of the gun, we are able to use it like every other
