             Homer is the family's breadwinner. He works for the local nuclear power plant where he is known by regular viewers to be the cause of many problems while abandoning his post for a break for doughnuts or to go to the vending machine. Homer is not bright and is extremely lazy. He always seems to get confused at the simplest thing and would rather sit on the couch with a beer and sleep in front of the television than do anything else. Although he is always doing something stupid, he is one of the most loveable characters on the show.
             Homer and the family would probably never find there way out of trouble if it weren't for the shows' only moral character, Marge. Always nagging the family to get up to get to church, Marge, who is the mother in the family, is always full of knowledge about what the right thing to do would be. When trouble arises in the show, one can be sure to hear Marge's familiar groans of frustration and large blue beehive to set everyone straight.
             The eldest daughter and middle child of the family is Lisa. Lisa is the brainchild. The exact opposite of Bart, Lisa is very environmentally conscious and a prodigy in school. She is always exceeding the expectations of the family at school, almost never getting into trouble, and also sticks with her morals no matter what.
             The youngest child is Maggie. Because she is only a baby, she isn't a large part of many of the dilemmas the rest of the family finds itself in. The family often neglects her.
