             Wakeboarding, though fun, is not quite as easy as it may look. A general process of steps can be taken in order for a novice like yourself to become acquainted with the sport. In addition, separate factors can influence how quickly and easily a beginner learns as well as his or her style of boarding and equipment.
             Keep in mind how tall you are, your weight, and the equipment you choose. All play an important roll in the wakeboarding experience. Another major factor that is seldom overlooked, but often misunderstood, is whether you are a male or female. There is a common misconception that females have a harder time when participating in physical sports. However, in the instance of wakeboarding, that misconception is not the case. In fact, the roles may be reversed. The male/female misunderstanding is mainly due to the fact that males have a higher center of gravity (chest) while females' center of gravity is closer to the water (mid-region). Thus a male's higher center of gravity makes it more difficult for him to get out of the water and up on his bored.
             The first step in the wakeboarding process is to put on your equipment. A lifejacket and board are necessary, however a helmet may be preferred for additional safety. It is your preference as to whether you put the board on before or after you enter the water. Whichever you choose, remember to strap up good and tight.
             By now you are floating in the water waiting to begin. Place the ski line between your feet to prepare yourself for the ride. Position of the board is critical at this point. The board should be perpendicular to the water and slightly angled with your most dominant foot on the lower side. Also, you might try tipping the top of the board toward the boat by about five degrees. Elbows may be placed inside or outside the knees when holding the ski line depending on preference.
