American Pop Culture and Advertising

             The advertisements I chose are all different from each other. The first advertisement is for a cigarette product, the second one is for a coffee beverage and the last one is an advertisement of a newly designed women's watch. In my opinion, each of these three products is advertising a sense. They want you to indulge in a pleasurable tasting sense and simple but elegant maintenance free caring of the product. There are no specific targets for these advertisements, maybe persons who are mature enough to make their own decisions and have the means to buy the products.
             Because the first product is cigarettes, I believe this product is a target towards mature adults. Adult smokers who prefer one brand from another would be the advertiser's specific target. One who is into the taste of a cigarette would choose Camel's "Midnight Madness". This is Camel's signature Turkish and Domestic Blend. It portrays an adult male dressed in a tuxedo holding a bottle of champagne ready to pop open. He is getting ready for the excitement of bringing in the New Year with Camel's 'Midnight Madness' cigarette in his mouth. The advertisers are trying to tell me that as long as I buy their product I will have excitement of smoking my new signature blend cigarette partying as I wait for the New Year to ring in. The advertisement specifically states, "Uncork the Madness" and that their product is a "Pleasure to Burn." This advertisement has no affect on me because I am not a smoker nor do I have the desire to start anytime soon. In my opinion, the message sent to the public is that even though smoking cigarettes pose a health threat, you are guaranteed to have the time of your life with this product.
             However, the second product, which is Millstone Coffee, is not a target to a specific group. I believe it will appeal to coffee drinkers who like to explore different flavors. Millstone coffee ...
