One such case of this land taking occurred when Nathaniel Bacon picked a fight with the Susquehannock people. He led a rebellion to take the Native Americans' land and actually burned Jamestown when Governor William Berkeley objected. The year after Bacon died, the Susquehannock were forced to sign a treaty which gave away much of their land to white settlers.
