Sticks and Stones May break

"Sticks and stones may break my bones," but if you say that word again, I'll have to hurt you. Words are the most intangible things to us, though we may not admit it. It has been the start of epic wars, famous romances, and the foundation for new countries. Words have toppled nations, condemned men, and have created heroes. Jesus Christ was put to death not because of what He did, but what He said. Most people know me as a laid back type of guy, but when it comes to words that are said around me, there are just some that you don't want to say in front of me. The biggest two words that are like a stink to my ears are calling someone worthless and taking the Lord's name in vain.
Growing up I was overly coddled and underestimated. My relatives thought I was nothing more than just another kid, the type of kid that only has a chance of becoming successful by running a family business of some sort. They adored my older brother and just brought me along to other places as if I was extra baggage. Everything that they did made me feel left out. If I were to call someone else worthless, I would be supporting everything that has troubled me since childhood. One of the biggest fuels for my success is proving my relatives wrong. Some of them have already said they were proud of me, but inside my head I dismiss what they say. To call someone worthless would mean that they're life is a waste.
Taking God's name in vain is one of the biggest offenses to me, yet it is said in front of me often. Saying God's name in vain is an indication that the person saying it doesn't really know whom God is. They believe that God is some myth that is unreal. They don't know the God that I know. God is kind, loving, and is gracious to all. To hear someone dismiss God's name as if He were nothing makes me mad.
