Yet the League of Nations took no action and Great Britain and France did nothing more than send protests to Hitler. In the fall of 1936, the two dictators from Italy and Germany, Mussolini and Hitler, formed the Rome-Berlin Axis Alliance. The Treaty of Versailles prohibited the creation of alliances, thus this political action of the two leaders directly violated this treaty.
