da's husband would abuse her and beat her, and one night when Keith is over, Wanda's husband stops by. He attacks Larry, and Larry defends himself. In the end, Wanda's husband is dead and Larry takes the body out into the street and leaves it under an archway. When Keith learns of what his brother has done he is horrified, and makes Larry tell him everything. Keith learns that there is little evidence pointing to Larry and Wanda, so he makes them stay in their homes apart from each other to try to alleviate suspicion. Wanda and Larry cannot bear being separated, so after a while Larry returns to Wanda, and Keith continues to watch the papers for news on the murder. Keith learns that a homeless man has been accused of the murder because he stole a ring from the corpse. Keith thinks it is wonderful because it will save Wanda and Larry, but when they learn of it, they find they can't bear to send an innocent man to jail or death because of a crime they committed. The homeless man is convicted of murder, and sentenced to death. Keith goes to Wanda's house sometime after, and after knocking and getting no reply he goes in.
