Communication is a valuable tool in every day relationships to keep the tight bond between different individuals. People always need to communicate with each other even they don't know each other. Speaking our needs and wants verbally, non verbally and sometimes in a written way is the basic needs of our every day relationships. There are many differences in relationships that need to be communicated in order to keep a healthy relationship. Many times these differences or disbeliefs aren't communicated between the two leading to either arguing or separation. I think that my parents are a great example of two individuals that have no communication skills what so ever. Three ways I feel that there relationship could have gone smoother are verbal communication, empathy, and communication management.
Verbal communication plays a key factor in the way a relationship is established and maintained to keep both individuals happy. In my mom and dads relationship, there verbal communication suffered because they lack the skills of listening to what each other wanted. For example, when my dad became upset he would lose his temper and start yelling at my mom, this edged my mother to yell back. This vicious cycle would continue for hours, resulting in nothing to be solved. A way that they both could of have gotten there point across, would be to take turns listening and understanding what each others needs and wants were.
Another way to help a relationship is empathy. Empathy is the ability to feel what another person feels from that person's point of view in a somewhat similar way. This lets you understand what another person is expernicing emotionally and the way the situation is being handled. In my parents relationship things would of gone much smother if they would of taken the hours of arguing and fighting, and sat down and empathized how each other could of handled the situation better without it leading up t...
