Abortion is one of the greatest subjects of controversy in
America. Some people, who are generally called pro-choice, think that a woman should have the "right" to choose whether or not she really wants her baby. There are others that think that abortion is okay if the pregnancy threatens the mother's health. Then there is the pro-life group who believe that abortion is wrong in every situation. Which of these theorems do you agree with? Do you consider yourself pro-choice, pro-life or "pro-it's-okay-if-there-is-a-problem-with-mommy's-health?" Every American must establish what they believe on this issue, because it is such a huge subject of argument in this country. No matter which side you are on you need to be able to defend your position. I have written this paper defending my position on abortion which is that no, abortion is not right no matter what the circumstances.
Some do not believe that a fetus is a human. If it is not a human, then what is it? Is it a "product" of a chance meeting of a sperm and an egg? Isn't that what a baby is? During the pre-civil-war era they were treated as animals under the preposterous claim that they were not truly human. Fortunately the protests that were raised over that idea prevailed and our country now believes that "all men are created equal" no matter what their skin color. Now, our country is once again discriminating against a particular group of people. This group is not considered human, as in centuries ago when the black people were not treated as humans. This group is millions of unborn babies of every color of skin whom the law now claims to be non-persons.
