It symbolises the old and the new whereas in this case, the poet represents the new generation in a new society with a new perspective. Felix therefore, becomes the old one living adamantly in his own unchanged way. However, he must accept Peter's change in culture in order to harmonise with his son. Thus, his mind is forcibly progressed to another level. Despite his determination to remain the same, his perspective inevitably has to change. Hence we can see that nothing stays the same.
             "The Migrant Hostel" by Peter Skryznecki is a poem that focuses on the lives of migrants and their perspectives of their changing lives. This poem creates a sense of constant motion and unsettled travel, which helps the reader to accumulate various perspectives and gain an understanding of the migrants. The poem describes the first two years of the Skryznecki family's adaptation. Unlike, the poem "Felix Skryznecki", "The Migrant Hostel" has a more obvious approach tackling the theme of change. The physical change is the changing environment and society as migrants arrive. "No one kept count of all the comings and goings", describes the large number of migrants that are constantly switched to different camps or stations. Many of them are refugees of the war.
