President Nixon resigned a year after the formation of the DEA, and it stands as his final and lasting legacy in the War on Drugs. Although the circumstances of his resignation were immoral and unfortunate, his attitude and influence on our country's policies in fighting drugs, at many different levels, must be recognized as a wonderful addition that his years in office. Personally, I am of the belief that his policy to spend a large percentage of the drug war budget on the treatment of the drug addicts was a good idea. I will speak more about this topic later.
