Human beings are multifaceted creatures. A human is made up of thousands of different elements, each one setting one person apart from another. One of these elements is one's personality. Everyone is made up of thousands of personality traits, and therefore, it cannot be said that a person is good or evil and left at that. It is impossible to be simply either or. It is this classic struggle of deciphering if one is good or evil that lives throughout the play Hamlet. Hamlet himself is no exception. One must look at a number of factors in order to draw a conclusion about what type of person he is. One must examine his attitudes, actions, and words that he speaks, along with the opinions of others about him.
             Hamlet is a Prince who is motivated by good reasons. It is his love for others, his loyalty and respect that shows the audience that Hamlet is capable of performing noble actions. He seeks revenge for his father's murder. He does this in order to avenge King Hamlet's honour and pride, having been killed unjustly. This idea of his shows his love, respect and honour for his father. Once again, this love that he has for others is exemplified when he jumps into the grave of his deceased love, Ophelia. (V,i) His unyielding love for Ophelia, almost aggressive at times, caused him to act in such a manner. It can be argued that his love for her was so immense that he would act entirely reverse towards her by pushing her away. As a noble man, his good intentions surface once again when he met with the players. He offers them guidance on how to improve their performance on stage. This performance was used against Claudius, King Hamlet's 'successor' in an attempt to uncover his quilt. So far, to a casual onlooker, Hamlet comes across as a respectable individual. However, there is a deeper, darker truth to his motives.
