Every Man

Everyone has a desire in life, and that is to be happy. Our whole lives are spent looking for this. When people are young they are, for the most part, sheltered form any type of evil. Parents teach their children that life is full of happiness and that there is not much that can go wrong. Children believe that the entire world is like their own family, and that no one sees how cruel the world can really be. They are taught that there is no heartache, pain, or sadness; but that is not how the world is.
The world revolves around evil. There is no way around it. Evil is everywhere. As children grow up and go through their "journey" through life they see how things really are. The ways of the world can be quite a shock. Some do not understand how much pain and anger there is in this world and when they realize that evil is lurking around every corner they want to turn back, just as Goodman Brown. Once he realized that evil was there and there was no way to get away he wanted to go back home to his wife.
In the midst of all the evil in the world there is still some good. As adults we see that there is a balance, and that we must take the good with the bad. We can not always turn back and forget the evil that there is, it will never leave so therefore we must learn to overcome it. Without this combination of good and evil, the world would be in total chaos. The world can not survive with only good, and can not survive with only evil, there has to be a balance.
