If you were to know the consequences, advantages, or general facts of drugs, sex, and alcohol before it was presented to you would it affect how you would make your decision? I believe that if today's youth knew more about sex, drugs, and alcohol we could prevent teenage pregnancies, the spread of sexual diseases, and drug and alcohol abusers. "People [including teens] feel their lives are out of balance, but the yearn for something totally new"(Coontz 33). Teens are looking for a comfort zone, and society offers our youth sex, drugs, and alcohol ; therefore we should educate our youth about sex, drugs, and alcohol , so they can make the best decision.
             As a junior high student you are encouraged to take sex-ed classes, but is sex-ed enough for our youth to know the whole truth behind sex? As a teen growing up the only thing I was told about sex was not to engage in premarital sex; that did not go a long way. I was curious, I wanted to know why wait, what was sex? As a society we express no sex or safe sex, but is that enough to encourage our kids to stay abstinent? I do not believe at the age of eight a child should know about sex, but by the age of thirteen, when a child begins junior high, they become subject to sexual peer pressure; whether its oral sex or intercourse. If a child does not know the consequences of sex such as disease or pregnancy, they may take the risk of falling into sexual peer pressure. Sex is out there. Sex is a part of our everyday lives; sex promotes clothes, beer, and even food. Our youth sees sex everyday, so we cannot try to hide them from sex. We need to
             let our youth know they have a choice, yes or no, and they should know with their decision there can be consequences or advantages.
