Throughout history and in society today, alcohol has been a widely used commodity. From social functions to anniversaries people partake in the consumption of alcohol as an aspect of their everyday lives. The adolescent population participates in this more and more and are blind to see the seriousness of alcohol. Such as alcohol abuse which can potentially lead to alcoholism. American society has made many assumptions about the use of alcohol. Thus, it can be fair to say that this culture sees alcohol more as a way of life rather than just a drink. However, these assumptions Americans have made continue to have their consequences.
             One of the greater assumptions made is that alcohol is a way of life. In American society alcohol is readily available. Families have this product in their homes tucked away in their liquor cabinets, or simply have a bottle of wine for dinner. High school students, as well as college students, focus the majority of their "partying" around alcohol. Either or society always has alcohol around. One does not enter a restaurant without seeing on the menu the variety of alcoholic beverages available to them. People indulge in this product without a second thought. Billboards all across the states promote this item. Alcohol advertisements extend beyond just billboards. They also appear in storefronts, where all can see them, even little children. You see alcohol being illustrated in commercials, movies, and so on. Alcohol is widespread and acknowledged as not just a consumer product but as a way of life.
             This assumption made by the American culture cannot be looked at as just a way of life. To lead your life not thinking how serious alcohol can be can lead to many consequences.
