             In the West level one, for beginners, teaches works that are on the physical level. The main purpose of this degree is focus on the physical body. This in turn assists the body with opening up and accepting the Reiki/pranic energy transfer, especially in larger quantities than they are experiencing in their daily life. Often, we need to touch to heal, although there are exceptions like those of private parts, burn victims, physical injuries, abuse, and so on. This level will teach such Reiki ethics/morals, as well as hand positions for touch healing to treat others or self treat. The student is taught how to tap into the Reiki energy, about the various energy within the body, illness, and so on. Some charkas become automatically awake and more aware. The students hands start to become sensitized, and the overall vibrational energy level increases as well as awareness of it. Basically, this level opens the student to the reiki or pranic energy.
             In original Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai Level One was about self mastery and self healing. Not about business or symbols, but you. About discovering and feeling the tangible energy of ki, and clearing or purifying self, healing ourselves on both the physical and spiritual levels, starting with physical and its earth connection, then moving to the higher self. It reminds me of a Native American quote I once read years ago. It said to give your children roots and wings. Meaning: if we have roots to ground us, we will feel safe enough to fly away when the time is right.
             In the West, with this level we teach the student how to send healing through time and space. Distant healing, learn how to project the Reiki/pranic energy free from material boundaries.
