Play: "Everyman: A Morality Play"
One Act, in an area that suggests the entire world.
Names and Brief description of Main Characters:
Everyman- A man(all men) summoned by Death and God to die.
God (also Adonai)- The early Christian form of a higher being, summons Death to take Everyman's life.
Death- Summoned by God himself, bring Everyman the message that by God's will it his time to die.
Those asked by Everyman to accompany him:
Fellowship- Everyman's friendships, a fair-weather friend, though he would happily drink with Everyman, he won't die with him.
Cousin- Everyman's family connections, fakes injury to avoid Everyman's end.
Kindred- Everyman's closest friends, more than willing to send someone else with Everyman, but not himself.
Goods- Everyman's earthly possessions, the immortal corrupter of his reckoning.
Good-Deeds- Everyman's deeds, too weak to join Everyman at first, but willing to.
Knowledge- Everyman's mind, explains how to free Good-deeds, and offers to come.
Strength- Everyman's physical (and mental?) strength, promises to protect him through the adversity.
Discretion- Everyman's will, his power to decide for himself, advices him first before his journey.
Five-wits- Everyman's senses, Also advises him on his journey
Beauty- Everyman's appearance, another advisor.
Confession- Christianity, gives Everyman penance to prepare him for his end.
Angel- Takes Everyman's soul, ending his earthly life
Doctor- Announces Everyman's physical death, and explains what happened.
God calls on Death to inform Everyman of his impending death, and tells him to "prove" his friends. Everyman first asks Fellowship to go with him into death, and although Fellowship swears to go with him anywhere, he abandons Everyman when he learns just
