Areas of more substantial agricultural land usually developed crops more successfully. These area's tended to be occupied by "free peasants" as there was more quality crops being grown ensuring that more profit was being made, thus decreasing their chance's of lingering debts. On the other hand areas of poorer quality generally carried out the practise of Serfdom due to crops being less successful increasing their liability of financial problems.
             Shortage of labour definitely influenced the establishment of Slavey in American Colonies.
