My Search for a Career

             In my spare time, as I softly rest comfortably on my bed, I peruse the contents of my life. I flip through the pages, looking for an answer perhaps. Sometimes, I just search for a sign that I realize what I do every day and why. What I realize instead is that I can only become more aware of myself by doing and learning. Life does not concern only the abstract. It does not deal with written principles or moral codes. My life can best be compared with a biography in progress, written wholly by my own hand. A collection of stories, in essence, my memory serves me well. Using it, I can recognize my regrets and learn from my own mistakes. I know that the path that I follow will prove to be quite unique. I feel sure that my search will provide answers, whatever they may be. Life should consist of this search and nothing else, the action of understanding oneself.
             Throughout my life, I have always been aware that there is much more to life than meets the eye. I have known that the experiences that I have not been through are bountiful and that there is always something else worth discovering about life or even myself. I am aware that the one thing in life that I long to do is to be a significant, beneficial part of society. For me, that role encompasses making cities safer places to live in. The two careers that most interest me are law and law enforcement. I hold those who uphold the law in the highest regard, and it is my wish that I might have the same opportunity as they do. I have the utmost respect for members of the police force and federal anti-criminal services To be in a position that is respected and relied on by the majority of America is a position that I would gladly accept. As a citizen of the United States, I feel that I, as well as the rest of the population, have a duty and an obligation to respect its laws.
