No person is ever the same from moment to moment. No matter how minute or unnoticeable these changes are, and no matter how much it may appear otherwise, these changes are always occurring. In fact, part of being human, is this ever-changing, adapting, and evolving nature. This change is affected by a plethora of factors, including one's family life. I stand before you today as one result of this ever-present stimulus called family and the changes in one this dynamic causes.
             I started out as the perfectly innocent child. I loved and trusted everybody and everything; I believed almost anything that anybody would tell me. Today is a completely different story. Now, I am one of the most untrusting, introverted, disbelieving, insecure, stubborn, antisocial, quick-tempered...and lonely people you will probably ever meet. This drastic change in demeanor is due to the experiences I have had and the people that I have had to deal with.
             I'd say that one of the biggest influences on my personality...on my insecurity and lack of trust...is my father. As far back as I remember, my father has constantly constituted a problem for me. He has always had an extremely short temper which, when set off, causes him to come after me. Now by "come after me" I don't mean to sound like some of those children that end up in the hospital thanks to "daddy" or end up getting raped by their so-called "father". I simply mean that when pissed off, he would immediately turn to me and slap me as hard as he could, just one time, right across the face. This slap isn't my main problem because physical wounds heal, its just the fact that this form of "discipline", as my father calls it, causes me to live my life in fear of getting hurt, and not only by him, that fear upsets me the most.
