To Kill A Mockingbird2

In To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee there was examples of evil, hypocrisy, and injustice. Many characters represent these traits. Jem and Scout were a large part of these things.
In the category of evil, the reader can see three examples very easily just from Bob Ewell. He attacks Jem and Scout in the woods and shows how evil one person can be when the children did nothing to him. He also stalked Tom Robinson's wife and Judge Taylor when they did absolutely nothing to him. He beat his daughter when he found out that she had been talking to a black man. This is no reason to beat anyone, especially your own daughter.
There is many examples of hypocrisy in the book. In Scouts class, the teacher condemns Hitler for persecuting Jews, but she still is racist towards blacks. Scout doesn't understand how one person can feel sympathetic towards the Jews when she discriminates against blacks when she doesn't have anything towards them. Many of the socially active women of the town talk about how they can help the town and at the same time badmouth the blacks of the town. Also, everyone in the town thinks that Boo Radley is an evil person when no one knows him and judges him by the rumors they heard.
There are also many instances of injustice in the book. Tom Robinson was convicted of rape. Atticus proved him innocent but the jury still convicted him of the charges. Also, when he tried to escape, he was shot seventeen times by the guards. They could have shot him only once and kept him alive, but they didn't. When it was proved that Bob Ewell beat his daughter, no charges were brought against him. This is totally unfair, especially to his daughter.
By showing all of these examples of evil, hypocrisy, and injustice, it shows how a town can be so disgusting, yet not even realize it. It is a good thing that Bob Ewell was killed
